Course Description
Do you feel responsible for how others feel? Ever wanted to go back in time and take back what you’ve said or done? Do you often feel inexplicably to blame for things?
Guilt is a common, powerful and destructive emotion, but, using the principles of CBT this video demonstrates how it can be overcome and even put to positive use. Topics discussed include: differentiating between healthy remorse and destructive guilt, how to deal with specific episodes of guilt, how to accept and value yourself without labelling yourself in any particular way, how to practise healthy self-care through tackling unhelpful beliefs that perpetuate guilt.
The structure of this video:
Part 1: Consultant Clinical Psychologist Paul Grantham interviews Professor Windy Dryden on his perspective of helping clients suffering from guilt. Professor Dryden shares his views and ideas on the topic mainly concentrating on the application of CBT to work with this group of clients.
Part 2: Expert demonstration of the use of the principles discussed in the interview by Prof. Dryden in a LIVE client session with a REAL client. The session starts, unfolds and finishes in front of the viewer. Prof. Dryden does not have any additional information about the client before he starts the session.
This video is specifically designed as a TRAINING TOOL for everyone who works with clients and wants to learn more about CBT as an evidence-based and effective therapeutic approach.
