This session is designed to support private practitioners as they navigate the complex and often nuanced landscape of ethical decision-making. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the key principles of collaborative ethical decision-making with clients, helping to embed the exploration of ethical decisions as part of the therapeutic process.

By fostering and building on critical thinking and ethical sensitivity, this session aims to strengthen private practitioners’ confidence in making informed, values-based decisions that uphold both client wellbeing and professional integrity. The session will draw on the framework of relational ethics (Gabriel and Reeves, 2025) for ethical reflection and decision-making, including consideration of cultural contexts, legal obligations, and personal values.
